How many quarts of tranny fluid?

How many quarts of Dexron III tranny fluid do I need to buy to do a drain and fill on my transmission fluid?

Assuming you have the automatic, it's 5 quarts for a normal drain and refill...

For a full flush it's a lot more. I think mine took like 11 quarts...

actually my bad i have a 6 speed. But I'm guessing then it should still be around 5 quarts?

Make sure you buy a hand pump to put the new fluid back in. 5 bucks at most, you wont have room to dump it back in with a funnel.

While this takes a little longer, I fill at the shifter. I like to make sure I get the complete 4 quarts in.

Also remember DEX III is no longer available and the new DEX VI should not be used (according to GM) it can ruin our T56's.

You kidding me? What should we use then. I just put a fresh rebuild from Six Speeds Inc in last month they said nothing to me. I went to the parts store and they said it would be fine.
