How hard to change power steering pump?

Like the title says. I took the f-body on a vette cruise with the guys on the forum today and everyone thought I had a blower because of the whine. While it sounds cool its fairly loud and annoying.

not all that hard..... get urself a haynes manual, it'll walk you thru it step by step.

make sure your p.s.pump or p.s. high pressure hose is not leaking,the alternator is right underneath and power steering fluid will get into the alt connector and kill the alternator.i had to replace the high press hose,thank god not the p.s. pump,but i did do some research into replacing the pump,you will need to rent a pulley removal tool because the bolts for the p.s. pump cannot be accessed with the pulley on(they are behind the pulley)i think you will also need to rent a pulley installation tool (press on pulley) the p.s. pump it self is held on by four bolts.autozone.com has a repair guide that helps (it has pictures)good luck.and i would go ahead and replace the p.s. high pressure hose while the pump is off,hose is only 28-30 bucks and will be a hell of a lot easier to replace with the pump off!

Get the Turn One pump and pulley. Smack the old one with a hammer and it will crumble then pry off whats left of the pulley after you have it off.

Really simple. The plastic pulley is a major fail

forgot about turn one I have their modded pump on my vette. will check it out thanks !

I am guessing the whine is definitely the pump though right? Sounds like when you turn your wheel end to end at a stand still and amplified 10x.
