How do you tell its a real Z?
Hey all I just have a few questions for ya. I'm getting ready to buy my first Camaro from a family friend. It's supposed to be a z28 with an ls1 but I wanna make sure its each of those. What is the best/easiest way to tell? Thanks in advance for the help =D
Thanks,
Gavin

Either from the GM Regular Production Option (RPO) code on the inside of the door or the VIN number.

only th z and the ss came with a v8 so if it has a v8 its 1 of those, just pop the hood. and nobody is dumb enough to pass an ss off as a z so that also narrows it down some

I just carfaxed the vin and it came back as what they told me it was so that's a good sign. I realize that I could just count the cylinders but that doesnt mean its an ls1. Im used to little 4-banger hondas that have an engine stamp telling you what it is so yeah lol. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't buying a P.O.S 305 tpi.

guys, there is a chance that someone swapped a ls1 into a v6 car....
check the vin and the RPO codes, don't just go by what is under the hood.

Like poppn said I just wanted to make sure no one swapped in a lesser v8 (if that's possible) and me not know. I've never seen an LS1 in person so yeah I don't know what one truly looks like or what to look for. Like I said, i'm used to Hondas lol. Thanks for the pics btw.
