    Hood liner/insulation-can it be removed?

Just curious if I can remove the hood liner in my 97 bird (repainting it) and leave it out, or will the underhood temps cause my paint to boil? Just need to know so I can get this thing done.

I have had a couple of cars with hood pads and taken them all out. Never had a problem. But, These cars can get pretty hot.

The reason i ask about taking it out is for that specific reason, i'm worried about boiling my paint. I know on the DSM's (eclipses etc) they can't take theirs out because of the underhood head created by the turbos, so thats why i ask.

you should be fine, your paint gets hotter sitting in direct sunlight. About all it does is noise supression as best as I can figure at least on the cars i have, including a 02WS6 with no insulation and the paint is fine.

I know that the fiberglass SS and Trans Am hoods(I think Trans Am and WS6 have fiberglass hoods) disapate heat better than steel hoods. Also, I know how hot the crampted engine bay of an LT1 can get. (REAL HOT) In time it may make or break the paint. Thats just my opinion!
