Hinge pin removal.
I've seen replacement hinge pins on various websites and these have always been threaded with locking nuts.
The originals look more like rivets, do I need to grind them to remove them or is there an easier method?

You should be able to use a hammer and a metal punch to press the old hinge pins out of the hinges.

Never actually looked at them to see how they are put together. If it is a standard GM hinge pin, they make an offset tool to remove and install them so you don't bugger up your paint accidentally.

I'm hoping it's only the upper hinge that needs fixing, the lower hinge with that fat spring doesn't fill me with confidence.
