Help with the right Motor!!!!

Im planing on buying a 2002 T/A and was wanting to know what kind of Motor set up to go with. Its going to be a weekend driver, just to have fun with and take to the strip. I found a 383 Stroker Motor(Turn Key) however it seams like its a little on the high side as far as the Price goes.

Tell me what you guys think??

Not sure if you realize this, but you are talking about replacing a gen III LS1 engine with a gen 1 small block chevy. Not going to be a bolt in at all, and you'll probably want to put a crank trigger on the front of the motor, since the distributor will be buried underneath the windshield at the back of the engine.

For a lot less than that price, you could just get either a 5.7 liter LS6 or a 6.0 liter LS2 that both bolt right in. Both of them make 400 HP and have a much better warranty than most any aftermarket crate motor.

So something like this then??

LS6 with 5.7L and 405 horsepower. This production engine includes an aluminum block, aluminum heads, crankshaft, rods, pistons, valve train, camshaft, valve covers, oil pan, intake manifold, throttle body, exhaust manifolds, balancer, and flywheel. It does not include any electronics.

To be honest, Im going to pick the Car up Sat. The Body is straight, ptretty much perfect aside from the Motor being Blown. I did not really ask any specifics on the motor.

I want to build a weekend/Strip car, The SS I have now is great however I want something else for the street/strip. The SS has 383 Stroker Motor From DSE making 445HP, I have more on it and its close to 470-480 range, I want quite a bit more out of this T/A. Im hoping to put it in the 600-700 Range

yea might be a good idea to see what is still usuable from the other engine, like the heads and ls6 intake, accessories etc, you could pick up a nice short block fully assembled, and possibly some decent heads for less than the $9k u were gonna spend, and be making alot more power.
