HELP overheated last night

HELP my car overheated last night,temp gauge was in the red.... i pulled over put the heat on etc etc, i got check engine light....the code was 1258 what does this code mean?? any ideas on why i overheated....i didnt see the cooling fans on at all and i didnt hear them..... i have never had a temp problem before though.....im thinking thermostat,any help would be great...also its an 98 trans am,ls1 auto

If your fans are not kicking on then thats your problem.

Did you try kicking on the A/C to see if the fans would come on?

wow taht sucks!!!! did you warp anything? you'd know if you started leaking a lot of coolant
