    Help With My Iac

Car Was Surging During Idle So I Took Intake Apart To Clean Off Carbon. Well I Ended Up Taking The Plunger Out Of The Iac By Accident, But The Screw Wasnt Broken So I Just Screwed It Back On. Car Iles Very High Now, Car Has Been Off For The Last 6 Months. Did I Break The Iac Or Does It Need To Relearn?

Personally I would go ahead and replace the sensor. It's a $14 part at autozone.

The IAC is a motor not a sensor and they are fragile after being in use. If the plunger is extended to far when you replace the IAC then you will break it. Learning idle depends on the engine type and trans type.

its a $120 part from gm. i probably did break it then because the plunger screw actually seperated from the valve

    Assuming Ls1 a4
    1. Set brake, start eng, shift to drive. Idle for 5 min.
    2. Turn on AC, idle 5 min.
    3. Leave AC on, shift to park. 5 min.
    4. AC off, idle in park 5 min.
    5. Turn off for at least 30 sec.

    LS1 M6
    1. In Nuetral start engine, turn AC on. Idle 5 min.
    2. Turn AC off, idle another 5 min.
    3. Turn off for at least 30 sec.
I copied this straight from my manual. I have never actually done it. I just drive the thing and the idle eventually sorts itself out.
