help with Keyless entry for trunk
I am having problems opening my trunk with my keyless entry remote on my 2000 camaro ss. I can open it from the button inside, but not from the keyless fob. Has anyone had this problem and found the solution?
thanks

Possibly a weak battery in the fob or a worn out connection at the trunk release button in the fob. If you have a spare fob, try that and let us know how you make out.

Sounds like a bad connection at the trunk release button.

Right out of the manual
Pressing the REAR 2X button will turn the alarm off
and keep the system armed. A second push of the
button (within five seconds, pause slightly between
presses) will unlock and disarm the hatch only.
I always arm my car when I'm away from it. So, I have to press the button twice to pop the hatch

By design it should be pushing the button twice. It even says on the fob 2x. that is how it is on my 2000.

My 01 is the same way.. After a while my car even shuts off the hatch release button, so noone can just reach in and open the hatch. When the driver door is opened the hatch switch can be used again but only for a short while then it's powered down again.. Forces a dishonest person to open the door first, which will set off the alarm. But it will wait till you close the door to set it off.. If I use my key instead, it will allow me to open the hatch but gives a warning honk, indicating the alarm is still armed. Once I close my hatch it then flickers my lights.. Close it too hard, and you get panic mode lol..

Also just to through this in. After a short while, my 01 will power down the passenger door power switches for the locks. It will then only take input from the driver door @ this time unless the door gets opened..

If you stand by the trunk when you hit the button does it sound like it popped but just isn't opening? If so you need to piggyback the spring. I've got a real easy walk through if you want it. Otherwise it's probably electrical and I have no idea how to fix it.

I just reprogrammed my fob on a 2002 camaro. I put a new battery in it, but it still didn't work. I pulled it apart again and it had coke on the transmitter. I cleaned it real good with hot water and a cloth. Also the prongs for the negative side was almost flat, so I bent them out. Then reprogrammed it, and all is well.
