Help With decision on headers
I have an 01 ws6. I just found out that my y pipe and manifolds are basically rusted out. I have an exhaust leak where the cat meets the flange and was told that they'd have to take the manifold off to repair the pipe. Soooo, I thought well if they have to take the manifolds off I might as well have somethin better for them to put back in. Im debating on whether to get shorty headers, stay with the stock manifolds, or try to find some cheap mid lengths. I dont want to have to deal with tuning the car, nor worry about emissions when it comes time for that. I'm not looking for gains, I rather have a good sound. What do I do? What are some good brands for each?

It sounds to me like a set of mac mid-lengths would be a good fit for you. There's been people that've made good power with mac's. LT's are definitely the way to go but it really sounds like mac's would suite you better. I wouldn't even mess with shorties.

well im tryin to keep the cost low. Im not worried about performance or speed. I have my vette for that. I was lookin at the shortys cuz they're cheaper than the stock manifolds, and emissions legal everywhere

if you're just concerned with cost then keep your eye out for a set of used stock manifolds. There are a ton of people that have went to LT's that'd love to sell their stockers. I have mine in the shed but they're for a 98 and have the egr port on them.

Lts are by the far the greatest power gains, but if your not rely concenrned I would probably go with Macs mids as stated above, they make good power. Shorty's and the stock manifold flow about the same, def not worth the trouble.

I want to say a supercharged local guy is running 10's using macs. I'm not sure if he's still using them though but I know he was making good power with macs.....and they're 50 state legal I'm pretty sure. I'd have to look that up though.
