You're lights and everything do turn on? Will the car crank or is it just inoperable in general?

Sounds like a dead battery. The battery probably has enough juice to run some lights and such, but not enough to turn over the starter.

That may be the starter relay that you hear.

Ugh. Never assume the worst -- can't believe you went and pulled the starter. Try the simple things first before you take your car apart.

More often than not, it's something simple and easy to fix. Ruling those out first is also the easiest way to diagnose the problem.

Most batteries will hold a charge, unless there is something that could drain it. Over three months, it wouldn't take much. Disconnected, it should hold a charge.

Anti theft systems can drain the battery over time. Even though the car isn't running, the anti theft is running constantly.

If the battery was connected, three months would definitely put a hurting on it. Even disconnected an older battery would probably be weak after that long.

May want to replace the battery *if that was the issue and it doesn't hold its charge*. I know here In phoenix it will die on you without any warning signs and stay dead.

A slow trickle charge - such as a Battery Tender, is the best way to bring it back to life. Even on a really dead battery, around 24 hours on the trickle charger should do it.
