no you cant use the stock cats with long tubes.....get longtubes, mid-lengths offer minimal gains. if ur slp y-pipe is fitted for stock exhaust manifolds, yes, you need to buy a new y-pipe.

get strano's not slp and if you take it easy you'll be fine. get a brand which tucks up nicer such as ARH or Kooks....SLP has severe clearance issuses

Kooks LTs and catted Y -- both tuck up under the car nicely. The only headers I have heard complaints on are the original SLP's for hanging low and the e-bay offbrands for having the O2 sensor bungs pointing downward.

Headers won't scrape your biggest clearance issue is the pipe that goes under the the driver side before the merge-you know the flat one when you have right now. My 3" with cats (cats produce even less clearance) still very rarely scrape.

^^^We are gonna help change your mind around here. SLP sucks at almost everything LS1 related. There are only a few SLP products that are worth a darn and even thats debatable.

tell your performance shop to show you dyno sheets of SLP headers outperforming other brands. its all advertisment, all long tubes given the same diameters (1 3/4'') for example will all produce AROUND the same numbers given 2-3 in either direction.

SLP headers are the worst design ever.... just go get Kooks or ARH and do it right, do it once.

naw dude my clearance concern is with the headers..also today i took out my crossmember or the tunnel braces not sure wats it call but is under the y pipe were it meats the catback exhaust... because wen i install the slp exhaust it started to make my y pipe shake more and hitt it at low rpm it sounded raspy so i took it out and is much better no rasp at all but was dat i good idea?

......ur crossmember has nothing to do with rasp.....the rattling can be attempted to be fixed with a mufflex bump stop......also try unloading the exhaust with a buddy and putting some 1/4'' rubber in there, it will prevent the exhaust from loading and un-loading and hopefully prevent anymore rattling you have
