    gutted pcv valve

as most know my car has been smoking worse than a hooker at a truck stop, so today i decided to replace my pcv valve and see if it would help, i took the old one out and shook it to see if it was stuck and nothing, so i looked down it and it was completly empty, no guts or anything, could this be something some jack ass did thinking it would help or should i be worried that there is a bunch of little peices floating around in my intake??

also could this explain the oil i have been burning and the bad ass trail of smoke coming out from my car??

somebody could have drilled it out although i wouldn't have the slightest clue why someone would do something like that. unless they didn't want to spring for the $3.50 for a new one.

The latest LS1 PCV valves are fixed orifice, meaning there is just a small hole in the one end and nothing in the middle. GM issued a TSB about 2001 in regards to this.

Hey Josh I looked it up for him in my tech manual and it says it does have guts and to shake it. However it also says it's located in the valve cover and he say's his was'nt. Wish I could've helped jas more. But I'm at a loss now. I sure hope you're right though. I'd hate to see him take a loss on selling it cause the peices entered his motor and screwed it up internally. Good luck jas.

there is nothing to be confused about.
i just replaced mine with the new "fixed type-small hole"
it has no internal stuff just empty with the small hole
now if you have the old type 1/4" hole and it has no innards i would look for the parts.

    Exactly

98 systems are different and are located on the valve cover while the 99-02 are near the TB.

All manuals etc will be incorrect because of the new TSB.
