green or red antifreeze

I want to know if I can put green antifreeze in my 2001 trans-am and 1999 firehawk it has red .My 1994 trans-am has green antifreeze I put in it .I want to know if it will mess up my 2001 and 1999 trans-am if I put green in it .I have seen 1995 to 2000 chev goose neck pited out we change them to green no more problems. just wondering [thank]

You need to put whatever color it currently has in it back in, most likely it will be red.

there is pros and cons to both but imo i like the green .thats one of the first things i did when i bought my ta was change it to the green..your not going to mess up anything. its cheaper then buying dexcool . if you do change it over make sure you clean your cooling system really well..

the red one supports higher temperature, and the green one supports lower temperatures. but it is a bad thing to mixthem due to their chemical signatures.

DEXCOOL 100% all the way, the Orange shit is good

I did a Waterpump change, not a single sign of rust or dirt in the coolant, its very good. Plus having an aluminum block its importiant you use the proper stuff or you can have corrosion start to build up.

Red, orange same thing. Dexcool is ok, but green is cheaper and works just fine.

I personally have never seen a test where it says that dexcool is any better than green stuff, other than it is supposed to last longer, and its embittered so animals don't drink it. I don't care about it lasting longer and I don't leave it around where animals can drink it, so its just a waste of money for me.

doesnt the green stuff cause corrosive wear on aluminum??? Im pretty sure I read that somewhere.

Not that I've ever heard, though I have heard if you don't get all the air bleed out of the dexcool when replacing it, it will react with the air and corrode.

Yea, I made sure my system was "burped" all the when I replaced my coolant when I put a higher performance water pump on there...and I have never heard of that...goes to show ya how much we really now

Green stuff isn't good in aluminum engines and heads, which is why GM developed Dex-cool in the first place for their newer engines.

Your best bet is to just stick with Dex-cool and change the coolant at regular intervals.

not only the red antifreese or Dexcool is better, it doesnt break down as easily as the green one when heat is at peek. We used the red antifreeze on all of our diesel engines, its just better performing.

Dexcool ONLY!!!!!!!! I read 4 pages at work on why you should use what the OEM rec are. I would flush it every few years to avoid any problems. That 100,00 mile change interval is BS.
