    Getting an SES light!

A week ago I got an SES light on my 2000 Z28 (74k miles). We cleared it and it showed a lean running condition. At the time the car had actually bogged like it was running out of fuel while coming off a stop sign. We checked for vacuum leaks but none are obvious. Decided to do nothing unless the SES light came on again. It did today at highway speeds. No bogging or other physical hints. The light just popped on. Later it went off while driving up the street and has stayed off since. My mechanic is guessing a dirty or damaged MAF. Anyone else have an idea?
    TIA

If you can, get the code scanned when it appears.

My guess it has to do with the MAF. A year or so ago my car started to run like ass and show an SES light. Took the MAF out and found a leaf in it. Not sure how it got in there though Try cleaning the MAF with some electrical cleaner and compressed air and see how it runs.
