Gauge Cluster Problems

So the gauge cluster in my 00 T/a ws6 decided to stop working correctly. Philly and I removed the Valve covers and coils to paint the covers .. didn't mess with anything electrical except to hold those wires out of the way for a few minutes that run across the top of the motor through the firewall; sensors and clips are back in their appropriate positions ..

but now the only thing on my gauges that works correctly and consistantly is my Speedometer.

The RPM, gas gauge, temp, etc flicker on and off randomly as well as Air Bag Light, Check Gauges light, and now all of a sudden my TCS OFF light has come on for the first time in the year i've owned the car.

My friend mentioned that the Speedo wiring is separate from what controls everything else on the gauge cluster. Is the cluster taking a dump or am I missing something else?! Help!

It possibly sounds like a battery, or altenator problem.

battery was just replaced. dunno how old the alternator is.

I would start by checking the basics. The grounds, especially the ones at the back of the heads - several people have broken them while working on the heads. Check that the plug to the PCM is tight, clean and tighten your battery terminals etc.
