Question gasket?? what is it called

Hey Guys i have a 2001 Firebird Formula LS1 and i have a oil leak that is driving me crazy. i think it's the gasket around the oil filter adaptor where it bolts to the block. (if not its the oil pan gasket or maybe both. i've tightened both back up a few times and it seems to get better but only for awhile.)
what is that gasket called? the boys at AZ and advance auto can't find it anywhere in the parts books.
I thought it was a called the oil filter adaptor gasket but no dice.
anyone know where i can get one other than the dealer.
God i hope this stops it, this getting annoying.
    thanks in advance, charles

    gasket

Sounds like a dealer part only-service manual calls it "oil pan transfer cover gasket".You might try GMpartsdirect.com

I usually get a part number from the dealer then type that into gmpartsdirect. Dealer wants 21.80 for manifold gasket and gmpartsdirect sells the same part number for 9.07

When the one on my blazer cracked it was just an "O" ring for a gasket.

nah, an oil filter adaptor gasket is under pressure and would blow out past the RTV.

yep, thats it now if i can find this part i'm good to go.
i don't think RTV would work to much pressure and i'd be afraid of it blowing out.

dam i'd almost rather chew my own foot off than to have to deal with the stealerships around here.
i've actually seen i guy come out of the parts dept. at a local chevy dealership and grab a rock on the ground and hurl it through the service departments window.

I buy a lot of stuff on there. They usually have everything I need and different brands and VERY good prices.

That gasket is probably going to be a dealer only part. They have you by the balls. I know it sucks.
