Gas Pedal Sticks at 1/8th Pedal

Hey guys, anyone ever heard of this. I have a 2000 Automatic Trans-Am. The other day when I went to drive it, the gas pedal stopped at about 1/8th throttle. At first, I thought something was under the pedal. Then I realized it was not, I pushed harder, and the pedal went further, but the engine did not accelerate anymore. So I stopped and got out. I had my brother give it some gas. The cable from the pedal goes into what looks to be the cruise control box. Then another cable goes to the throttle body. He kept jamming the gas, and finally the throttble body snapped, and the engine revved. It was like something was stuck in the cruise box connection. Now today it happened again. Has anyone ever heard of anything like this?

Your best bet is the next time it happens try to find where it is binding. Could be one of your cables either thorttle or actuator are "binding" or freezing if its cold. There are also a few gears on the inside, pull the cover off the CC box and inspect the gears and ensure they spin freely. Also check your throttle body for build up...

Your car must have traction control, that's the only thing you can see above that the gas pedal cable would go into. It could be binding in there, or you could have a massive carbon build up in the throttle body itself, causing it to be sticky.

On my non TCS car, the cable runs directly from the pedal to the TB. It broke on me once, right at the TB. All I had when it broke was idle, the gas pedal went to the floor.

Ok looked into it a little further. The throttle body itself revs free if done by hand. So it must be something in the cruise control box binding up, stopping the pedal from going down.

Sorry, guess it is actually traction control, not cruise control.
