gas Pedal falls off ?! Any good replacement on '99 Firebird?

Well, my 1999 supercar Firebird TransAm RAM-AIR Ws6 30th Anniv. Ed. cost $37,000 when new, but old GM didn't bother to upgrade the FLIMSY stock accelerator pedal / spring / rod pin combo when they were spray-painting my wheels blue? I have fancier linkages on my mountain bicycle ! Driving along in my 320h.p. car yesterday and the pedal falls off ? WTF Gen'l. Motors? OK, it lasted 16 years, but still.... :-)

Have you guys/gals found a good, attractive pedal and spring unit from Summit Racing or similar WHICH WILL ACTUALLY STAY ON and not have the pin fall out while driving at 75mph !!! ???? :-) I won't be racing; just want a durable, stylish pedal and a spring link / pin that is held in somehow.

The GM pin doesn't even have a retaining clip. My nose-hair razor housing has a retaining clip !!!

    Typical GM parts.
Probably just head to the junkyard and source another assembly or eBay.
If you can't find what you want there you could check out lokar. I put a pedal assembly out of there catalogue in a s10 conversion about 10 years ago. It wasn't cheap, but it was of high quality and looked great in the truck.
Or you could try the dealership. This depends greatly on your area as some of them are great and others completely useless.
    Best of luck.

You could also try hawksthirdgen if nothing else pans out.
