    FORD help...

my fiance's ford taurus has an after market CD player with this retarded aftermarket faceplate which i think is screwing with the HVAC controls. Anyway-when we try to turn up the heat, it still blows cold air even the car is at normal temperature. The stupid HVAC knob can spin 360° over and over again so we have no idea if the knob is the problem or the thermostat? We can't take it back to the installer b/c the car is used and came with the aftermarket POS face plate.

Sounds like a stripped knob as previously stated-just wanted to point out that it's probably not actually a rheostat(electric switch)but rather a vacuum switch. If the actual switch spins 360 then it's the switch.Even a Taurass should have a temperature gauge-where's it reading? That would rule out the thermostat as being stuck open for example.Or just leave it downtown w/the keys in it and avoid all the problems the Tore-ass is certain to give you(little ford jab there )

LOL, i wish i could throw it off a bridge, but her parents bought/paid for it and the thing goes just fine. some little issues like this and the computer thinks the door is always open are a few pet peaves...aside from the fac that its a taurus.

so would it be the little black knob or the actual "male" end that gets replaced [if stripped is the problem]

Yeah-the knob itself would be stripped out in all likely hood-try pulling off and see if it's supposed to have a flat spot to key it to.Then see if the "male" end turns completely around 360*.That would be a broken switch.Taurass can be a reliable daily driver if driven like granma and granpa-I'd check the door switches for problems w/the other thing.Good Luck.!
