Flowmaster exhaust but what do I do next

    hey everybody

I just bought a 99 Tans AM and from what I know it has a flow master exhaust and a K&N filter in the factory air box. What can I do to increase performance. Bolt on's mainly I don't want to go crazy yet I have to absorb the cost of my new toy.
What is the best cold air intake to install? What else can I do and in what order?

It has new plugs and I just changed all the fluids to synthetic at the dealer. I am open to options. Lets say that I have $1000 budget to put add on;'s how would you guys spend it in my situation????

    Thanks a lot.....

I agree with above and ditch that K&N filter and get a cheap paper filter.

Headers, Lid, Cutout, save your money on the rear end peices. 10 bolts break easy.

    Get a tune.

    lid

    stall
    sub frame connectors

though you wont be able to get all these for a grand. But any of these would be a good start.

Hum! Everybody seems to be on the same page on this. Thanks a lot!!

I bought my car from a GM dealer so I don't know what the other guy did to it but I raced a 2000 Corvette from 30mph to 130mph and he got me by 1/2 to 3/4 of a car and I don't know who he was it was just on HGW 2 and he was standard I could hear him power shift. I heard after fromn someone that knew him that he had an exhaust and a cold air intake. Would that be normal a normal distance from him at those speeds? Man what a rush!!! I was just coming out from the dealer and he twisted my rubber arm. Next time I don't want him to pull me....

headers and stall would put you right around $1k. I would save a few more bucks and get a tune with those 2 and reap more benefits from them.

As far as the race. That seems about right although I would've thought with him having exhaust and intake and you just being stock for the most part he should've pulled a little more than that but that still seems about right give or take a little.

Oh! I wanted a 6 speed but I had a bad snowmobile accident so pushing the clutch in is no can do.... It is still fun with an auto when there's power.

it slips more at idle whichs makes for a better launch, and also helps you gain RPM faster

There's snow here until April so time I have for sure. I'm going to start with a lid or a lid Kit from SLP one is $300 and the other is $100. I already have a K&N filter so I have to check what I need. Does the lid come with the straight tube to hook it up.
