finishing install...what to do before startup?

im finishing up my 228r cam, stage 2.5 heads, bbk intake, pacesetter longtube install and was wondering if there is anything else i need to do before the first start up. i already got a mail order tune done on my pcm.
also put in ls6 oil pump, 42#injectors, ls2 timing chain, and off course new springs seats seals and pushrods. just wanted to know if there was anything needed to be done before startin it up. Thanks

Go through and double check everything you can, and ensure you have enough oil in it. As long as you used plenty of assembly lube you should be fine. Start it up and listen for any odd or unusual sounds and if all checks out then wait and see if you have any leaks.

Couldnt i do the same thing by cranking it withought the coils connected? I didnt prime the ls6 oil pump bc it didnt say anything in the write up but thne i looked in the repair manual and it said to pour oil in the pump and turn it by hand before installing.

actually i had another question. when i was scraping the gasket off the block i think the coolant passages got some crap down in there. is it ok for me to fill radiator with water the first time i run the car that way it can clear that crap out of there and then fill with coolant?

Yea thats fine as long as you dont leave it in there when the temps get around freezing outside. I have a DD that i drain all the anti-freeze out of in the summer and fill with distilled water then in the winter i fill it back up with 50/50.
