    Fans not kicking on

Picked up a 98 z28 and am having an issue keeping the car cool. Main problem is the fans don't seem to kick on. Hooked up HPtuners to it and i can manually turn them on but they don't want to come on by themselves. Coolant temp reads fine so i'm thinking PCM. Anybody have any ideas before i go out and pick up a new computer?

Just to be on the safe side i'll be installing a new water pump and radiator but the fans are still my main problem.

Slightly different issue. What stumps me is the fans work and i can turn them on manually, but they should come on by water temp automatically. And the fact that they do work leads me to believe it isn't a wiring issue.

Have you checked the temp sensor in the head to see if it's bad?

Temps read fine. I think what happened was i didn't get the car hot enough for the fans to kick on. I think the stock fan setting is about 225-226, i only let the car hit 224 and killed it. 226 seems high but i'll try and get her up to temps tomorrow and hopefully the fans kick on. AC doesn't work so the fan doesn't kick on with it on.

Can you set the fans to come on before like at 200 so you wont have to let it get to 226?

The PCM will command low speed fans ON at 108°C (226°F) and OFF at 103°C (217°F) and, high speed fans ON at 113°C (235°F) and OFF at 108°C (226°F).

    Pretty sure that's correct.

Yep Jon, think thats about right. I got it to 224 last time and thought it was high enough but i guess not.
And i might drop the temps but want to be %100 sure i'm keeping it before i use up some hp tuners credits.
