Extra tube on SLP lid?

Putting on the new lid tonight, after I got finished jamming that lid in place (tighter fit than a..... well.... tight fit...) the instructions tell me to "Install the air pump hose to the straight connector on the end ...." blah blah blah...

There's a hose coming out of the lid on the drivers side, angles back 90deg, turns out 90deg and had a male barb.

I have nothing to connect this to? There wasn't anything there on the stock lid either, so I'm guessing this assembly isn't needed? Is it cool to just plug that hole up?

I don't know about 99 but the 98s don't have that so you just plug the hole.

Cool... black elec tape on both sides for now, I suppose I should get an actual plumbing expansion plug for it tomorrow. I was starting to suspect it was for a turbo or something...

98-99 is different than 00-02. The fitting connects filtered air to the AIR pump.

I think ya got the wrong year lid- the 98 99 slp lid doesnt have the hole for the air. O well tho- itll still work ,just gotta plug it like said above

Yep! took the air pump off my 01 & pluged tha hole!......been that way for a couple years!

go to the auto parts store and go get a chrysler master cylinder gasket...........part # 42081. fits that hole perfectly, costs about $1, and looks alot cleaner then just using electrical tape.

yeah... i wouldn't use electrical tap to cover that hole... get that shit sucked in the intaked and you got some real problems...

Not a problem if your maf still has a screen it will get stuck there. But yeah, do NOT use electrical tape it will get sucked in. I like that plug Ill be getting that when I remove in air pump system. Just have to order the egr blockoff for the headers...

My slp lid came with a plug. All I had to do was install it.

I suppose I should have posted what I did in case anyone needs to reference this.

The elec. tape was just so I could run it that night, the next day I went up to my parents and raided dad's tool box full of plumbing junk. I was using a plumbing expansion plug to seal the hole, but once I saw the look on the MSG, I ran out and got one. Good fit, looks natural. Much better than a wing nut sticking out the side of the lid!

Price was $6 for 2 at my local Advance AP. Anyone need the second one?

I suppose my only complaint on the SLP lid is the fitment. The only way to access the filter is to remove the bellows from the TB and pull the whole assembly. The passenger side clip keeps popping off, that can't be good. I'm thinking of taking a heat gun to the back side and see if I can't get better fitting on the tabs.

add a strip of 3/8" or 1/2" weather sealant along the same areas and it will seal up right and clips will not pop off

I had the clips popping off issue. Also have the smooth bellows. The bellows was pushing the assembly forward, popping the clips. Trimming a 1/4 off of one end of the bellows took care of the problem.

I also noticed that the fitment seemed to be due to the bellows. However, my fix was a bit different. Brought the car in after a long drive so everything was nice and hot, loosened up the worm clamps @ the TB & MAF, and shoved it like I was at a general admission concert.

Worked fine. Clip didn't even pop loose when I smashed up the front end today!
