exhaust popping

recently after coming to a stop or slowing down i get some backfire (popping) in through the exhaust. this only happens when either im stopping, going slow or slowing down. doesn't do it all the time but it does do it.

what can be causes for this? I checked the plug wires to make sure they weren't touching the headers and they were not touching them at all. I also took all of them out and checked them. put them back and at same time checked the spark plugs to make sure they were tight and not lose.

what else should I check? could it just be bad gas? im going to run a bottle of fuel injector cleaner.

i also did notice that after i checked the plug wires it seem to run a little better though.

yea the car was tuned awhile back. i did remove the air on it. but i blocked the headers with some plates. i will double check to make sure that they didnt come lose.
the egr was completely removed before i bough the car.

forgot to mention that the only codes I have are the ones for the air. 410,412 and 418. i also removed the fuse for the air pump.

yea i will check this tomorrow morning. hopefully that's the problem. if it they somehow came lose because this just started to happen about 3 days ago and the block off plates have been there since like 8months ago.

well i checked the air blocks and they were a little loose to i tighten up.

anyways today I drove on the hwy and when i was at about 45-60 I could hear the exhaust note change and the car sounded like it was lossing power and more popping during those speeds.

no ses light. i checked the spark plugs, wires and coils and they are good. all the coils were sparking.

what else should i check? can it be a fuel issue? like bad gas? filter? pump?

I have kinda the same issue with mine but its only when you let off the gas sometimes and the air and EGR are stock. But it seems to run good.

possibly your egr since you still have it?

I'll check it out when I get it out of storage for the summer.
