    exhaust clearance

Just bought some tsp headers for my 2000 ss. It seems like the headers are facing up a bit. I have about a half inch clearance from my ypipe and header to the floorboard. Do yall think that is too close? I don't want to heat my headers up to bend them but I will if I have to

Some companies do this to avoid the headers scraping on uneven roads. As long as the Y-pipe connects with the catback, you should be fine.

Half inch should be fine. You'll find out soon enough if the y starts banging on the floor. If you want to put some work into it, put a bracket on the driver's side of the y. If your motor mounts are bad, they'll add to it.

thanks for the reply guys. i do have the y pipe bump stop hanger by mufflex to prevent it from banging. i just figured the engine needed to move a little more than a half inch to be safe? but i am positive that yall have more experience than me so i will take yalls word

Our Kooks headers and catted-Y were pretty tight to the bottom of the car. After some adjusting on the Y it rides about 1/2", or maybe even less, from the underfloor brace on the driver side. Has never clunked and the ground clearance is great.
