No compression in the cylinder? or coil pack just not getting the signal to fire?

If all of the other cylinders have comp. and the plug you pulled out wasnt fouled with coolant then i would say you have an internal failure, I would drail the oil and see if you get pieces of your piston in the oil or drop the pan or pull the head to double check.

    Check your distributor cap.
Most likely that could be it!

the would be nice if you just floated a valve or somthing along those lines. Did you check all the cylinders for compression? If so what readings did ya get?

So take the valve cover off and look! Cylinder 7 is on the drivers side bank. Disconnect the spark plug wires at the coils. Remove the coil packs. The valvecover has a PCV fitting on the back, pull that hose off. Valvecover comes off with 4 8mm screws. Broken spring, pushrod, etc. Perhaps a bad ring.

Not a big deal. Your block probably wasnt damaged and fortunately since You have a 98 LS1 you can pull the heads without removing the engine and find out. This shouldnt take your mechanic more than 2 hours max.

It depends on how much money you have to work with and what vette engine youre refering to.

is this guy thats tellin you this stuff have a good rep? Or is he just tryin to get some cash out of ya.
You have got plenty of options.
Depends on what route you wanna take. My opinion if your gonna pull the motor you should go bigger or build up a 6 ltr.
