Engine will not turn over..... Won't crank

Hey Guys, my 2001 Trans Am WS6 won't crank. It has good battery connections, all lights come on when I turn the key. But nothing happens as far as turning over the motor. I tried my spare key and had the same results. What do I need to check or change out?

Security light come on? It is to the right of the speedo.

Sounds like the tumbler (the part that reads the chip in the key) is out. Mine did this to me a few times before I figured it out.
I went the cheap route, and bypassing the VATS system.

Thanks, 1) So what is the expensive way? 2) How do I by pass the VATS system if I choose that route?

1. Replace the tumbler in the steering column.

2. Figure out what ohm the chip in the key is (dealership should be able to tell you, may require key and VIN though). Then get resistors that cover that range. Put inline with the pink wire under the dash.

any clicking from the starter? If the battery is drained you will get lights and accesories but it might not be enough to crank. as said before is the security light on?

Thanks guys for all the help. After running my tests I narrowed it down to the Ignition Relay. I had NO starter turn over, I swapped the Starter Relay with the Ignition Relay and the starter tried to crank. Thus telling me that the Ignition Relay was not operating properly. Two stores and, 12 bucks later, and back in business. Thanks again. Ray
