    engine temp 02 vette

Normal driving temp is around 175 which is good. Idling temp goes up fairly quick to around 220 230 . Is this normal? Thanks.

Not sure on Corvette, but the stock temp gauge on an F-body is essentially an "estimator". I would think that the temps should stay at 212 degrees or below if everything is working properly as the factory thermostat is rated around 198 degrees on LS1 engines. Can you verify temps with a scanner? Are your fans coming on? Stock stat or has it been swapped out?

The analog gauges in the C5 Corvettes are rather accurate. You can also double check what the PCM is reading by cycling through the gauges on the cluster display also. The factory fan settings let the car get pretty warm before they kick on. On a hot summer day sitting in traffic I read 228* when I was gridlocked with the A/C on. The Hi speed fan didn't even kick on yet. On a warm day, 85*+, it will only take a few minutes of sitting still to start climbing. even faster if you have the A/C on. Once you get moving the temp should drop down quickly.

I would double check your coolant quality and level. When was the last time it was replaced? If everything is good there than yes, those temps are normal for factory fan settings. I didn't like my temps being that high so I had the fan temp kick on times changed when i had the my car tuned.
