    engine rebuild

Hey guys i just had my car looked at the other day after i had a very loud knocking sound coming from the engine...It was getting louder as i revved it and wouldn't go away after getting warm. Its a spun rod bearing. I just don't know what to do without my car haha im stuck driving an explorer.... I want to rebuild it but not back to stock. I just don't know what all to do cuz i just want a stout street car. I think now would be the time to build it while i already have the engine out. What would yall do if this happened to you? what rebuild setup would work well? I'm on a moderate budget like 4-5500.... any help would be great

forged crank, rods, pistons. cam, titanium valve springs, in the "parts for sale" thread, a guy has a sts turbo with all the parts for $2,500, it will give you 1 hellava boost, that would be an awesome start
