engine noise

I know the piston slap issue has probably been beaten to death, but I have seen elseware here that the oil has alot to do with helping it. Is there a recomended oil brand to use. I was thinking of using shell rotella, read somewhere that the additives in it are the best. Any suggestions

Rotella is high in detergents and sorta low in anti wear additives.... Sorta over kill for an LS1. I really like the Pennzoil Platinum 10-30 or Royal Purple Racing 41 (10-40)...both available at NAPA. Great cold flow rates and excellent detergent and wear properties.
