    Engine light

I have an 01 ss camaro and the enginr light came on.The car drives the same and it's been a week and the light is still on.This engine light came on before and then went away. What could it be?Will I hurt the car if I still drive it with the engine light on?

I wouldnt worry about it too much, if the car isnt running funny. The SES light will come on for just about anything. it could be as little as your gas cap isnt tight. It probably threw an 02 code. To reset the pcm turn your igntition on (dont start the car, just turn the key forward until you hear beeping) press the gas pedal to the floor 3 times slowly. turn the key off for a few seconds then start the car. This should have re set your pcm. if not take it to murrays or autozone and have it scanned. you could have burnt out an o2 sensor or something small like that.

Doesn't this only reset the oil change light? Without a scanner I thought you had to:

Turn key on, don't start car, pull PCM BATT and PCM IGN fuses, wait 5 min, turn ignition off, replace fuses.

I'd visit your local Autozone and get the code read anyway...it would drive me nuts not knowing what it was...even if the light went off by itself.
