engine blown 98 what to do?

i got a 98 z28, cylinder one is blown. what should i do. its gonna cost me $1500 + for the repair. should i just buy a new engine. i don't want to sell the car, and the car is salvaged. give me some ideas please.

Hmmmm, well, you have to ask yourself is it something you want to hold onto for some time, if yes, then repair it ($1500 is not bad really). Would not advise getting a whole new engine, LS1's are not cheap and since its slvg anyhow. I feel your pain, I've been there.

if you sell it, you wopn't get shit for it. Especially since it's a salvage...not to mention dead cylinder. Did the connecting rod snap or something? Either way you're kinda screwed....keep it and dump money into a empty pit or sell it for next to nothing. Could always part it out also.

For that price I would rebuild it to better than stock...defintely wouldn't put it all back together in stock form.

rebuild, i got a 98 and just had my whole engin rebuilt and it ended up being $5,500(and got some go fast parts) be prepaired to spend the money cuase usually when you dig into them you will find more problems then what the obvious is. so do the bearings and rod bolts, etc and make it stronger then what it was stock thats my advice if you love the car and want to keep the car.
