Have a 2002 chevrolet silverado 1500 acting up. Yesterday I started it up to leave, put it in gear (Started backing up) then it died. The battery light came on for just an instant when it happened. This morning it cranked over but didn't start. Last time this happened I tried swapping relay's and checked fuses and all seemed to work. Didn't change anything and for giggles I cranked it again and it worked. No issues for a couple days and it has relapsed.

Have you checked the battery for leaks and terminal tightness? How many miles on the truck? How worn out is the key? Could be the ignition lock cylinder. Do you have to turn the key hard when you try to start the truck?

sounds like it could be a fuel pump problem.

Checked the battery, just have to turn the key like I normally do. It cranks just doesn't start. It has roughly 75k on it, and I changed the fuel pump just a couple thousand miles ago. I'll check for fuel pressure at the rails but how do I test the ignition lock cylinder?

what motor does it have? Even though you swapped pumps I would still go ahead and check pressure at the rail.

If that were bad, you'd have a security light on. Or security trouble codes stored in the BCM. Its a little different then the F-body VATs system. When there is a problem with your truck's security system, it disables the fuel injectors. It'll still crank ok and the fuel pump will run ok.

It's a 5.3, I'll check for the security light today.
