What is the purpose of egr blockoff plates and will a code be thrown? I think my egr is messed up and thought about these plates.

The purpose of the plates is to block-off the manifolds when you gut the egr out. If you're able to remove the egr in your area (lack of strict smog) you should also remove the A.I.R system and then tune both out...I would anyway.
Yes many codes will be thrown for both..

i just came in from the garage, i tore off most of my egr/air........YOU DEFINITLY WANT ALL THE GASKETS & BLOCKOFFS FROM WS6STORE.com......they fit perfect and work great--the stock gaskets fell apart when i took the egr crap off.
I do have a question--those rubber tubes that go on both manifolds then goes down by/below the fuse boxes and connects to somthing down there, i cant really see what it is---can it be removed??? or do i just put a plug in it?

From what you are describing, that sounds like the AIR pump hoses. If it runs right along the driver side fender, I am sure thats what you are speaking of. You can remove all that clutter. You have to get underneath the car and remove the AIR pump(its located close to the driver side fog light). Its 3 bolts to remove the pump.

ok i will look at it from the bottom and see how hard it is to get to it---i prolly wont mess wit it till i have the car on a lift soon.
Also people, dont start your car with the hole unplugged on top of the intake where the hose plugs into, it kinda dont run too will
i put one of those expandable rubber plugs in it (had to grind down the plug to get it to fit)...Last edited by 2MuchFun; 06-29-2007 at 02:43 PM. Reason: ...

^^^You can buy a regular ls6 manifold now instead of having to buy one with the EGR provision...it's much cheaper.

Find a tuner in your area that can delete these codes (someone with LS1 Edit or HP Tuners) and ditch the air/egr. Taking out the air system/pump will take about 8lbs out of the front of the car and make plug changes etc easier. EGR is just pointless altogether. I like the block off plates from Speed Inc. myself.
