Do you have a voltmeter? I would have the battery load tested. Also check all your connections at the battery for corrosion.

this all started after a bad alternator. the car deaded once before i knew the alt was bad. it left me on the side of road one night.

11.5 is too low. It was the weak battery that probably killed the alternator. With the cold weather it will make it a little worse. Put in a new battery and make sure the connections are clean and you should be all fixed up.

that why my lights are doing that?

that is not too low. is your battery light on? just go to somewhere and have a load test run on it. if during a load it goes below 9.6v then you need a new battery. if not then youre good. and honestly if your car starts everytime is prob fine.
and it works the other way, a weak alternator will kill a battery. if your alternator is good it will keep your battery charged. if your battery is already weak and your alternator goes, the car will drain the rest of its life. and there is nothing to recharge it, so them you might need a new battery. but like i said, just have a load test run on it, its the only way to really test a battery.
your brake light will come on too if your fluid is low. might me totally unrelated... maybe something else with the service light too. dont see how that would be realted to a battery.Last edited by mpfranks; 02-04-2009 at 03:01 PM.
