Driver side mirror issue
I have a 2000 Camaro and the driver side mirror has broke. It's a manual adjustable unit. The problrm is after inspecting it the cable assy. has become dislodged from the back of the glass. Is there a way of fixing this or am I screwed into buying a new Assy. & paint it. I'd rather tear the thing apart & try something but I can't see a way of disecting it w/o being distrective. Any suggestions?

have you taken the whole assembly off the door?

I just had the same issue with my 97 Bird, and I couldn't figure out a feasible way to repair it, so I went and found a used assy. at the 'yard and just swapped the internals so that i wouldn't have to paint the housing. It's do-able, but just be careful and remember that if they put it together, it can be taken back apart. My advice is to buy an entire assembly, and just swap out the 'guts'.
