does fuel injector cleaner work?
does fuel injector cleaner work? If so, are their good brands for us? When i pull the car out of storage in the spring, i'll probably run some of that through it if there is any advantage?

FP60 is some good shit...cleans the fuel system and lubes the pump...is also a fuel stabilizer.
Sarge recommended it and i've been using it for a good month now...i'm getting about 20-25 more miles per tank and she seems to run smoother. That's probably just in my head but the mpg isn't

I use the high powered stuff that goes directly into the fuel rail.
GM top engine cleaner is good,3M fuel injection cleaner,or NAPA
comes in a pressurized can made for special application.
These will all unclog or clean all but the most stubborn.
I soaked some injectors that were completly clogged in my 78
Seville which had sat for 8 yrs,it cleared them right out.

Shouldn't your injetors be pretty clean if you are always using high octane gas? I have always used Sunoco Ultra 94.

I like Chevron or Lucas for fuel additives.
CD2 makes a nice engine oil additive.
As for when to use, I do the fuel whenever I have some spare money and the oil every other oil change like dbuie.

Every month or so I add some Chevron Texron but I denfinitely run a professional cleaner through at least once a year, it's amazing how much better the car runs. You might check out the fuel injector cleaner kit being advertised in the Sponsors links, the company I work for makes it (shameless plug) but it really does work and work well.

X2. The bet way to clean them is via fuel rail, remember to pull the fuel pump fuse before hand and crank the engine to remove the pressure in the line before hook up.
Chevron, and now Texaco both have techron in them. but Shell has the highest detergents added among all of them. Thats what I primarily run.

I like the Lucas top end lube/fuel injector cleaner. My LS1 seems to also.

Since Brad said it would be OK to occasionally post the link I think one belongs in this thread. It doesn't matter which kit you buy to use the professional cleaners, in virtually every case you'll definitely experience a positive difference in your power and mpg.

Received an e-mail tonight from someone, tried to reply from two different accounts but the mail just bounced. If anyone was asking about finding the cleaner on the NAPA website it's kind of tricky to find:
Try p/n: CRB218489
http://www.napaonline.com/MasterPage...ner+(Pro+Cleen)
Almost all the stores stock it but most of the clerks will scratch their heads at first until you tell them it's usually kept in the back and is used in their professional Echlin fuel injector cleaning kits.
