discision problem
alright i have a 2000 camaro ss m6 just brought heads cam intake mani and some other stuff. the car has 87,000 miles on it and I debating selling it with my motorcycle and getting a 350z. what I'm wondering is when I replace the heads and cam will the car be more reliable. Cause the only thing that scares me in 87,000 miles.

what kind of heads cam setup did you get? are you having problems with the car now? 87,000 mile is NOTHING on an F body and you would have way more fun with what you have now than to trade it in on a 350z. on a mild heads cam setup with good tune then your car should be everybit as reliable as it was stock. actually with hardened pushrods and better valvetrain setup then you will be more reliable when you beat on it. also generally you would be changing your timing chain and oil pump with the swap which will help your LS1 in the long run. Also you might as well swap your plugs while you are at it and check out all your wires and just clean everything up.

What you have will also out perform the 350Z by a lot.

Your car stock will spank a 350Z and any decent H/C set-up will just make it embarrassing. Sell your motorcycle too? F that! If your dream car is a 350Z, then go for it, but otherwise no way.
As for reliablity, it is 50% part selection, 25% installation and 25% maintenance. I sprayed my heads/cam set-up and eventually pushed a head-gasket, but other than that it was very relaible. Drove from FL to VA, VA to NJ, VA to PA etc...

Like said above, as long as it is installed correctly and the tuning is done correctly it shouldnt be an issue (reliability). I am assuming you are talking mild heads and cam.

You shouldnt have any problems with a good tune, streetability shouldnt be an issue there. The ability of tuners now a days is unbelieveable, decent size cam that you have and better flowing heads still shouldnt be a problem.

The more power you are running it is going to increase the wear on the engine but with a mild setup it should still be reliable. ls6 heads are pretty mild and should not effect relability since it is a stock corvette part. 87k is a lot no matter what people say. It really depends on how you drove it and how well you maintained it.
