    dash cluster question..

    quick question, i have to replace the cluster on my ss, but the one im getting was in a car with way more miles, my question is, what holds the ,ileage, the computer or cluster? thanks.. or is there anyway to drop the miles to the mileage my car has,

    I think it's stored in the PCM, not the cluster, so you'll be fine. If that were the case, everybody would go try swapping their clusters out for lower mileage ones.

    thanks!, so if i swap the pcm, the mileage will change right? i mean bc i plan to buy a used pcm for the tune, that would be also a problem, i will not know the mileage on the pcm,,

    Okay, did some more reading on this topic on another site, and unfortunately I can't give you an honest answer as to where the mileage info is stored. Some seem to think it's in the PCM, others think it's stored in the cluster. I'm sure somebody who has swapped clusters will chime in and give you a more informed answer.

    im pretty sure the mileage is stored in the cluster i looked into this awhile ago and that was the answer i kept finding... i may be wrong.

    mileage is 100% stored in cluster, some dealers will program the replacement gauges to your actual mileage.....but most want to be the ones changing them out ...so something you can do easily will turn into $$$$

    I'll ask frost when I shipp the PCM to him to get it tuned.
    I would think it's on the cluster also.
    In this case is 80k difference from what my car has lol so I'll def wanna drop the miles to what I have.
    I just don't know how to do that.
