I'm thinking it's your exhaust. How long does it knock after you shut it off?

Blackened fire chicken- 2000 Pontiac Trans Am WS6
ive heard its because of the aluminum block expanding or contracting when its cooling down after you shut it off...i think i know what sound you're talking about. its almost like it will pop or "knock" a few times when the cars cooling down after its shut off...

Probably the easiest way to figure it out is to stay by the car for a few minutes after you shut it off and listen for the noise to try and pinpoint where it's coming from. Either way, it's nothing to be concerned about, at least I wouldn't think so, anyways.

One more thing guys since i got all u here......i just changed out my front roters and pads because i had heat spots on them really bad, my car is a little shy of 60k and if the back are anything like the front there factory roters, I dont really see any hotspots on them though but whenever i do some soft braking i get really bad brake feed on my pedal and my steering wheel and sometimes when i go down a hill really slow ill hear a knocking and a un balanced feeling as if my tires on crooked (which i know its not lol)....u guys think its just my roters being hot and warn out or do you think it could be something else???

Might want to make sure your wheels & tires are balanced right. Front brakes tend to wear quicker than rears but you might need to look at your rear brakes, too.

I agree about the knock being the pipes. They are cooling down. As for the brakes, sounds like your rotors are warped.
