Confused If I should start modyfing???

Hi Everyone , I am from Australia and I have a Holden VY SS with an ls1. The car has 1 5/8 primaries into a twin 2 ½ inch cat back exhaust - apart from this the car is stock. Now my problem is I don’t know how or if I should start modifying the car. I know if I do a cam job or forced induction I will have to rebuild the 4l60( I have been told that a proper rebuild using good parts + labour would cost about $ 3,500 - $4000 AUS). Now because I am a student I do not have infinite funds , therefore my capacity to spend money on the car is limited. Is there any bolt on mods I can do that are worth my while and will not cause the auto to shit itself ( I have been thinking maybe diff gears ??). Over here in Australia they charge $1400 for an over-the radiator cold air intake and a maffless tune (which apparently puts out 220 – 240rear wheel kilowatts ). Anyway If any1 could help me that would be great.

I would start with the OTRCAI/tune and see how that feels while saving for the cam and labor. The tune will wake the car up. Keep us posted.
