    Charging the battery

My battery completley died out on me! I forgot to unplug my radar detector for about 4 days and it died out. Does any1 know how to rechrage it? I gotta first jump start it to get it running, but do shops recharge the battery? If so how much do they cost?

I'd just find a friend that has a charger or just go buy one yourself they are not the pricey. I dont know if a shop well try to recharge one or just try to sell you and new battery.

Sounds like time for a battery charger. I have the SC-1200A - 12/8/2 Amp Charger/Maintainer/Tester model from schumaker. It not only chargers but can test the electrical system.

Like someone said before, you should just have a friend jumpstart it for you...then go buy a battery charger...as long as your battery is still in decent shape & holding a charge relatively well, getting it jumpstarted and driving it for a few mins (keep all accessories off like your A/C, radio, lights, radar detector, etc. so they aren't using up the charge) will get it charged enough to start up again...just the drive to Walmart (to pick up a battery charger) should be enough to hold a charge for when you get out of the store to start it up again...it's never a bad idea to have a charger around, just in case, anyways....and then you'll never get stuck in this situation in the future...

Can't see that lasting too long.

Alternators aren't meant to charge dead batteries, they are meant to maintain voltage and supplement the battery. Quickest way to kill an alternator is to overheat it from trying to charge a battery with low voltage.

Yeah i wouldnt suggest doing that often.. i ran mine dead a few weeks ago, left a map light on.

my room mate jumped me off, i let it idle for 10 minutes, everything was fine.

i had an old truck once, didnt have a buzzer to let you know you left youre headlights on, i prob did it 3 times a month, didnt take long to kill my battery.

This is a Family Tradition, We have ran this Setup for over 60 Years, It does the Job Perfect. I have personally run this Generator/Alternator for the past 2 years at the track. Never had a problem, Well other than my carb on the motor crapped out. But Nothing I couldn't fix.

I use this to keep my battery charged between rounds at the track.
