Car won't start...
So I drove 2.5 hours away to see my girlfriend, and my other buddies, car drove fine all weekend. I raced a supercharged vette, there's another time for that though. I drove a little hard, but nothing too crazy. Then I'm getting ready to take my girl home and go home myself and the car cranks, but will not start... I checked everything I can think of. Gas is fine, oil is fine. It just turns and will not fire. Right now the car is sitting at my buddies appartment complex way the hell up there and I got a ride home another way

I just had to take mine in to the dealer for the same problem. Turns out the mechanism in the steering column that reads the chip on the key went dead.
I attempted to jump it, roll start it and who knows what else... When I turned the key the starter didnt even attempt to click.

I agree with above, you can switch it with one of your fan relays to test it. then just one of your fans wont work til you buy a new relay. do you have any way to read the codes on the car where it is parked? also but it not even stutter and try to start? you also have an ignition fuse you can check.

Light Metallic Pewter- 1999 Camaro Z28
Hey, I'm back. My internet died and I couldn't log on for a little bit. Then when I did I couldn't post for a little bit, and I found out my account was suspended... probably for not responding. Sorry about the delay.
I tried what you guys said, but I got nothing. I ended up getting it started though, I just went outside one day it bang it started up but then after a little while it would bog way down even if I was on the gas. So I took it to tuffy and had my battery, starter, and alternator checked, and all were good there. The guy said maybe it was my fuel filter or my fuel pump. So I bought a new fuel filter and changed that, very messy btw. After that my car wouldn't start at all I had it towed somewhere. I thought it was the fuel pump, they tested it and said that it is definitely the fuel pump.
They said for another GM fuel pump with a one year warranty the estemated cost is $750. and $450 is just the fuel pump. To get one with a lifetime warranty is $1000 for JUST THE FUEL PUMP. Does anyone know where I can find a good aftermarket fuel pump with a lifetime warranty for a better price? I guess I also need a sending unit to go with it, since the guys said using the old sending unit could cause the gas guage to bounce around after time. I don't know I'm not a mechanic :/ but I need helpLast edited by LOCKDOWN; 07-24-2007 at 08:25 AM.

I know it sounds stupid but try banging on the tank with a rubber hammer. Sometimes this will get one going until you can get it replaced. I would check around for a better price thats awful high for a fuel pump.

GM price:
Fuel pump, 5.7l 99-02 $520.00 $330.20
Includes: Sending Unit.
Do you hear the pump when you turn the ignition on?
Did you try swapping the relay?
Either of those pumps in your links would be fine I'm sure, just be sure you're not going through a really messy job for nothing.

if you decide to do the fuel pump buy a racetronix kit from harris speed works ( sponsor). Excellent instructions, better pump, and way cheaper than buying the GM unit. That's the first I've heard of the sending unit deal. If your gauge is fine now I wouldn't worry about changing it. No one else ever does.
