Car won't start
Some info about my car, I have a 2002 Camaro SS with an ls1 125k miles with a few bolt ons. It has a BBK intake manifold, BBK throttle body, Volant air intake and long tubes with slp exhaust.
I started the car a few days ago and it idled for 5 min then shut off. Turned the key couldn't hear the fuel pump turn on. Unplugged the battery for a min, hooked it back up and fuel pump came on and started the car but turned off after a couple seconds then wouldn't start at all. I decided to replace fuel pump and fuel filter. After replacing it, the car started right up and i let it idle for a few min. Once I put everything back together I turned the car on and it had a rough idle and wouldn't stay on unless I pressed the gas. After pressing the gas a few times the car stayed on. I took off for a test drive and after half a mile the engine chokes Everytime I pressed the gas. Got to a stop and it shut off. Car started right back up but once you pressed the gas it would choke. A day later went back to the car it cranked right up without any issues but after 5 min it started idling rough and then shut off. I checked maf sensor, fuses and everything I could think of but couldnt find anything. Went back to it today and now fuel pump will run for maybe 1 sec (usually runs for 3-4sec when key is turned) and car won't start. Left the ignition on and I could hear the fuel pump turning off and on and fuel gauge wouldn't work and it has half a tank. Ended up towing it to a shop and even the speedometer won't work now.
If you know what it could be please let me know.
Thanks

First thing to do is check the fuel pressure -- new parts are not always good parts. You should have 58 psi at the rail when you energize the ignition and it should hold pressure if you shut the key back off. If this checks out, then start the engine and see what the pressure does.

could be a couple things really....any codes? Sounds to me like it'll cold idle fine in open loop but has problems once it goes to closed loop. That would make me want to look at closed loop issues and the first 2 things I would look at are the coolant temp sender and the O2's. Those aren't the only things it could be but where I would start. A buddy had a coolant temp sender go out and it would cold idle fine but as soon as it went to closed loop it would basically flood itself out. If you're throwing any codes that would be a huge help but that coolant temp sender on my buddy's car never threw a code for it. I saw it with a scanner.

Sorry for the later reply. I went through everything and found out it was the pcm that went out so I got it replaced and it's back on the road. Thanks

Were you able to diagnose it as a bad PCM, or did you decide to try a new one and got lucky? In either case, good to hear you are back on the road.
