car seems slower off of line after slp lid install
over the weekend I installed a SLP lid along with replacing the air filter and the power steering pump. Well it has been a few days since and every time I give it some aggressive throttle from a stop the car just doesn't have what it used to before the swap. The MAF was not abused during the install and I can still see the 3 sensors inside. Any ideas? It's a very noticeable drop on performance off the line. The car is an A4 and when I drove it the first few times I could break the tires free a bit and now I get nothing more then a slight squeak. It just feels like the motor is working very hard and is getting less performance.

Try cleaning the MAF with some CRC cleaner. I'd also check all the connections to the MAF and the IAT. Make sure there are no air leaks after the MAF also.

Could you give me the idiot proof process of cleaning that. I'm used to my 400 where I didnt have to worry about sensors and such

Step 1: Remove clamps between throttle body and lid.
Step 2: Remove intake bellows from MAF
Step 3: Place MAF on rag on floor
Step 4: Spray CRC MAF cleaner into MAF and let cleaner/dirt soak into rag
Step 5: Let air dry
Step 6: Reinstall MAF/bellows
Step 7: Get in car and HAVE FUN

I agree that it is the MAF. The SLP lid will not hurp performance unless you have a leak at the clamps.

I will clean it and keep everyone updated. Maybe buy a used smooth bellows

Before you go dropping all that coin on the smooth bellows, look into a Fernco connector at your local hardware store. They cost about $4 and serve the same purpose as the smooth bellows that sell for $60+

And make sure you don't touch the wires in your MAF. They break easily. And they are VERY sensitive.
