    car not starting!!!!!

i go to turn the car on and i get no turnover, gauges and everything come on and the "check gauges" light comes on. What does this mean? could this be a problem with my starter or ignition wire? it eventually does come on each time after alot of persistant turning of the key.

    HELLP!!!!!!

The check gages light comes on because the gauges are displaying 0 for oil pressure, volts, water temp, etc, just because the car is not running.

There could be many reasons it's not starting...ignition problem, fuel problem, bad battery....

it doesnt turn over at all when you turn the key? you need to check the starter relay and check to see if your getting a start signal to your starter...

Is the security light flashing on the dash? I'd say it's the pass II system giving you probs if it is flashing...but that's just a guess. Use a spare ignition key to see if it's the resistor in the key or the ignition cylinder. Basically the resister value in the key has to match the value in the car...sometimes the cylinder gets worn and doesn't connect right...same with the key. But that's all a guess based on how you said it starts after several tries. Like keliente and redls1bird said...could be many things....good luck

well i realized the start up problem went away when i didn't have the clutch fully in. I talked to my friend and he said that was a sign of a throwout bearing problem. Also said it wasn't really much of a problem, more just an annoyance with computerized cars. any thoughts??

That doesn't mean the throwout bearing is bad...

I mean if anything it would be the clutch/neutral safety switch itself. I think I usually push mine all the way to the floor to start it.

If it were a throwout bearing you'd have problems driving it as well.

i see, the problem definitely went away when i figured out just not to push in all the way. Is this safety switch something I should look into fixing? I hope not since it makes it harder for someone who doesn't know how to start my car. I.E. my sister earlier today stealing the keys

I have the same problem sometimes. This morning actually. I depressed the clutch a couple times and tried it, then removed the key and put it back in. Then, all of a sudden it started right up. Weird!
