    car cutting off

    what would be the problem if my car cuts off sometimes going in reverse?
    I took it to sears auto center yesterday to get some tires mounted and someone had wrote bad fuel pump on the window but you can only see the writing when water is on the window.
    so would it be a bad fuel pump?
    also fuel meter reads around 34-35 when idle and 40-50 when accelerating
