Cant effin fill my tank!?
Alright so i went to fill up my tank today and it wont let me fill up, exactly like if it were full, except im on dead empty. what could be the problem? its happened once before at a different station so i dont think its the pumps.

Two things, the check valve in the filler to prevent fuel from spilling in a roll over is stuck, or, I ahve had this happen, the angle of the nozzel is just right that it fools the pump. Try pulling it back a bit.

turn the motor off while filling pressure is created in the tank while the motor is running

it might not even be your car, if you are using a debit card for pay at the pump, the pump automatically gives you a pre-approved amount pending on the credit limit or card or whatever....its happened to me too, it just ended up being the amount i was pre-approved for and i just ended up paying inside with the same card....im not saying this IS the problem, im just throwing it out there as an option. just my $.02

Next time try not to think about it too much, put the nozzle in, and see what angle you normally put it in at....a lot of pumps are really sensitive if you don't have the nozzle straight up and down...and then start slow and work your way to full spray...it's happened to me a couple times, I stop and wait a couple seconds, pull out the nozzle, put it back in MOST of the way, straight up and down, then start slow again. I used to work at a gas station as well. Happens to a lot of people.
PS. It's better than the pump NOT stopping and spilling excess fuel down the side of your car....never leave pumps unattended. Safety first.

not unheard of for that check valve to stick in the tank. Take a rubber mallet and knock the piss out of the tank and filler neck where it meets the tank.......would help if you call it a few cuss words in the process. My car likes the dirty talk.

Wow actually had this happen tonight. Took like 15 clicks before it would go and I was under 1/8 a tank. Keep clicking till it went.

sometimes the EVAP solenoid sticks shut and won't release the pressure inside the tank. under the hood where the fuel lines goes to the fuel rail, you'll see a green cap. that's a pressure relief valve. just like the valve stem on the tires. what i've done is disconnect the line from the EVAP solenoid to get rid of all the air in the tank and filled up. then reattach the line.

I've run across a few pumps that do exactly that. Just pull up to the next one instead. You'll figure out if it's your car or not real quick under the exact same conditions. Never had a problem w/ pump #2 myself. I wouldn't worry about it too much if that works for you.
