    Can not change HVAC zones.

    I have a 99 Firebird Formula...Need some advice.

My control knob for the HVAC zones(max,defrost,floor,dash...) does not work. It does work to turn the AC and heat on and off, just not to change the location of where the air goes. It will only blow out of the defrost vent and the vents under the dash simultaneously. I would much rather change it to be set to max so that I get a bit more power out of the AC. I dont have much money so I'm hoping that there is a way to manually change the setting other than the knob.

I have some damage to the left front of the car and I feel as though this has something to do with my problem. I can see there is a bit of tubing that is not connected to anything located in front of the wheel well and below the headlight. What the tube is supposed to attach to looks like it was made of black plastic but was broken off in the fender bender I had.

If anyone knows if its possible to manually change the setting i would love the info or link to the info.

    thanks

There is a vacuum line that runs across the front of the car to a reservoir somewhere. Sounds like you found it in the accident.

Under the R/F is the vacuum cannister. Look for the small plastic hose running down the right side. It is either broken or disconnected. If it's broken, I think if you just plug the line the control will work - the vents may change under acceleration since you will have no reserve but they should work.
